Wireless Specialty IP-76 Radio Receiver from 1911. Here is an early wireless crystal radio receiver. It was the primary radio used by the US Navy during the early teens. The crystal detector has a choice of two different mineral detectors. The top left tap switch was used if the set was receiving long wave signals. The loose coupler is a rack and pinion geared apparatus which works surprisingly well.
When I started to restore this radio, I spent the first month in research. It is hard to find any materials on it. There appear to be at least six variations of the IP76 over the years that it was produced. Surprisingly there are few IP76 radios left. Eric Wenaas allerted me to the fact that although most people refer to the rasio as the IP76, it is actually the 1P76 which can be seen below from the image he sent me of the cover of the Instruction manual.
