American Marconi 112 Wireless Radio Receiver
The American Marconi 112 Wireless Radio Receiver first came into production in about 1915. It was made for use with the Marconi one-quarter kilowatt cargo transmitter. Its circuitry is similar to the Marconi 101. It uses a carborundum rectifier for detecting signals. On the top right of the front panel are a buzzer and push button switch. The buzzer was used to help the operator adjust the detector. After the detector was adjusted so it was functioning well, then the radio could be tuned to a station.
A detailed description of the 112 including pictures and a schematic are found in Elmer Bucher's Practical Wireless Telegraphy published in 1917 in New York by Wireless Press. See pages 174 to 178. A copy of one of the pictures in Bucher's book is below.
