MxMichael Loosely Coupled Tuner Type MH/LC & 4 Valve Amplifier Type MH4RT
Here is a four valve (tube) McMichael 1921 pre-broadcast set made in the United Kingdom. Sets of that period usually consisted of two parts. The slant front tuner designated here as "Loosely Coupled Tuner type MH/LC" is followed by a "4 Valve HF-LF Amplifier Type MH4RT".
The Leslie McMichael Ltd company was formed in 1920; it was a very early supplier of pre and post broadcast radios. They designed some great radios including the first superhet marketed in the UK.
The previous owner bought this set about forty years ago from an elderly Scottish radio collector. It belonged to his father who claimed it was the first set bought in Scotland and was used to listen to the early Marconi broadcasts from Chelmsford in Feb. 1922.
